Elon musk has also added that new servers of X has been pointed towards twitter.com. Though twitter.com has remained live and there is also no change in app version. Musk had acquired twitter in 44 billion dollar deal in October last year.

Rebranding Twitter To X : ELON MUSK

Elon Musk, on Sunday, tweeted that the decision to change the logo to an “X” was to represent and embrace the imperfections that make each individual unique. He also mentioned that they would be saying goodbye to the Twitter brand, and eventually, all the bird-related aspects associated with it. Elon Musk also shared a brief video featuring a flickering “X.”

On Monday, the company’s website displayed a new logo, and the profile badges assigned to its employees were also updated with an “X” symbol. The introduction of the “X” symbol represents a shift in the company’s visual identity and branding strategy.

Linda’s New Vision & A second chance

Elon Musk appointed Linda Yaccarino in June, a former NBCUniversal marketing executive, as the CEO of the company. Linda Yaccarino commented on the name change of the company , stating that it’s a rare opportunity in life or business to have a second chance to make a significant impact. She acknowledged that Twitter had already left a massive impression on how we communicate, and with the new name “X,” they aim to take it further and transform the global town square.

Linda Yaccarino informed the board of the Mobile Marketing Association, a trade association for marketers that the company intends to leverage artificial intelligence by establishing a close collaboration with Elon Musk’s new AI venture, xAI. The plan involves using Twitter data to train the AI models developed by xAI. Subsequently, the technology developed by xAI could be implemented to enhance and improve various aspects of Twitter’s platform. This partnership between the two companies aims to harness the potential of AI to bring advancements to it’s services and features.

Linda added “X is the future state of unlimited interactivity — centred in audio, video, messaging, payments/banking — creating a global marketplace for ideas, goods, services, and opportunities,” Yaccarino wrote on Sunday. “Powered by AI, X will connect us all in ways we’re just beginning to imagine.”

In a Tweet, freshly minted CEO Linda Yaccarino tweeted “X is here! Let’s do this,”. It is “exceptionally rare” to have a second chance to make another big impression, Yaccarino said, but X is Twitter’s chance to do just that. She said there is “no limit to this transformation” and that the team is “just getting started.

Plummeting Revenues

Elon Musk recently disclosed that the platform is still facing a negative cash flow, mainly due to a 50% drop in advertising revenue and heavy debt loads. Some advertisers like General Mills, Macy’s, and certain car companies competing with Tesla have exited or paused their advertising presence on the platform.

Musk has been critical of these advertisers’ actions and has identified himself as a “free speech absolutist.” He expressed his desire to acquire Twitter to strengthen users’ ability to express themselves freely on the platform.

Competing with Threads

Elon Musk : Adding to the pressure on Twitter, a rival social media platform called Threads was launched earlier this month by Meta, the parent company of Facebook (FB). Impressively, Threads managed to surpass 100 million user sign-ups within its first week of existence. This significant growth in user base poses a direct challenge to it’s position in the social media market and intensifies the competition between the platforms.

Before Elon Musk took Twitter private in October 2022, the platform had approximately 238 million active users. The initial excitement surrounding the rival social media platform, Threads, seems to have cooled down significantly, primarily due to issues with spam and a lack of several user-friendly features that are available on Twitter, now known as X.

Adam Mosseri, the person responsible for overseeing the Threads launch at Meta, has suggested plans to improve the platform by adding features like a desktop version of the app, a feed that displays only the accounts a user follows, and an edit button for posts.

However, Threads’ potential to attract advertising support remains uncertain and unproven at this stage. As the platform continues to develop and address its shortcomings, its success in drawing advertising partners will be crucial for its long-term sustainability and growth.

According to recent updates, It has been confirmed that Threads is not a threat to Twitter, but its real competitor is Tik Tok.

New prospects and Winning Advertisers

Elon Musk , after a fall from ad revenue, he is planning for major shift from text focused platform to ads, audio, video and payments features to attract and partnering with the broadcasters or payment groups.

In May, Elon Musk appointed Linda Yaccarino, who previously held a key position at NBCUniversal in the advertising department, as the Chief of Twitter. The move was part of an initiative to win back the trust of numerous major advertisers who had abandoned the platform due to concerns over Musk’s unconventional leadership approach and the platform’s lax content moderation.

Despite Musk’s claims that advertisers are coming back to Twitter, he has continued to upset some of the platform’s users. Recently, he faced significant backlash after announcing that Twitter would be implementing temporary limits on the number of posts users can view. This decision received criticism from users who value unrestricted access to content on the platform. The move highlights the ongoing challenges that it faces in striking a balance between catering to advertisers and maintaining user satisfaction.

Transformation into A Superapp?

The recent announcement, made via a Tweet, has fueled speculation that Elon Musk aims to transform Twitter into a superapp to compete with the likes of the Chinese app WeChat.

WeChat, with an estimated user base of 1.29 billion, offers its users more than just messaging and posting capabilities. It also provides a finance system that enables users to make payments for various services. WeChat’s extensive features have made it a popular and all-encompassing platform in the Chinese market.

With the ambition to develop Twitter into a superapp or everything’s app, Musk may be looking to expand the platform’s functionalities beyond just social networking, possibly integrating payment and finance-related services to create a more comprehensive user experience. This move could be aimed at attracting a wider audience and enhancing Twitter’s competitive position in the global market. However, any such plans are still speculative at this stage, and further details would likely emerge as developments unfold.

Threads vs. X: What’s the Difference?

X and Threads allow engagement with other users through mobile apps on their respective services. X works with any email address, and Threads works only for Instagram users.

Threads is free and doesn’t even show ads (yet), but it’s so new that it’s currently devoid of most of the features X excels at. X is perfect for specific content discovery, but while it is full of features, some are locked behind a paid subscription.
