Defending Champion vs Top seed, In Wimbledon final on Sunday

Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz have a head-to-head record of 1-1. They most recently played each other in the French Open semifinals, with Djokovic winning the match. Djokovic is aiming for his fifth consecutive Wimbledon title and eighth overall, while Alcaraz is competing in his first final on Centre Court.

In the Wimbledon tournament, Djokovic started with wins over Pedro Cachin and Jordan Thompson in straight sets. He then defeated Stan Wawrinka and Hubert Hurkacz before facing Andrey Rublev in the quarterfinals. Djokovic came back from a set down to win the match in four sets. In the semifinals, he faced Jannik Sinner and won the first two sets, eventually securing victory in a tie-break.

Djokovic’s win in the semifinals earned him a spot in the final, making it his 35th Grand Slam final appearance, a record in tennis history.

Head-to-Head

The head-to-head record between Djokovic and Alcaraz stands at 1-1. Their most recent encounter took place in the French Open semifinals last month, where Djokovic emerged as the winner with a scoreline of 6-3, 5-7, 6-1, 6-1.

Favorite’s Prediction

Djokovic is considered the favorite in the upcoming match due to his experience and current form. However, Alcaraz has shown his prowess on grass this season and has the potential to give Djokovic a tough competition if he performs at his best.

During Wimbledon, Djokovic has showcased a strong first serve, recording 55 aces and winning 81.3 percent of the points. He has also hit 242 winners, but his unforced error count stands at 118. Djokovic’s well-rounded game and mental strength make him a formidable opponent.

Alcaraz has also been effective with his first serve, tallying 39 aces and a 77.8 percent winning rate on points. However, he needs to be cautious with his double faults, as he has served 23 of them so far. Alcaraz has hit 208 winners but also committed 183 unforced errors. His ability to mix up groundstrokes and incorporate drop shots adds variety to his game, while his stamina and on-court movement are advantageous. Alcaraz’s mental composure will be vital in taking on Djokovic.

Although Djokovic is dominant, Alcaraz has the potential to pose challenges. If Alcaraz performs at his peak without any fitness issues, as seen in the French Open, he could hand Djokovic his first defeat at Wimbledon since 2013 and secure his second Grand Slam title.

The match promises excitement, with Djokovic as the favorite but Alcaraz capable of providing a strong challenge if he brings his best game and maintains mental focus.

What did Carloz Alcaraz says on Wimbeldon Finale

“It’s more special to play a final against a legend of our sport,” Alcaraz said. “If I win, it will be amazing for me, not only to win a Wimbledon title, but to do it against Novak. I always say, if you want to be the best, you have to beat the best.”

He further added “He does nothing wrong on the court,” Alcaraz said. “Physically he’s a beast. Mentally he’s a beast. For Novak, it is one more day, one more moment, For me, it’s going to be the best moment of my life, I think.” Alcaraz said.“ I always say, “if you want to be the best, you have to beat the best,”.

On Friday, Alcaraz expressed his intention to utilize brain exercises to handle the pressure, following his impressive victory over Medvedev. He also voiced confidence, stating that he was not afraid of a repeat of his previous encounter with Djokovic. However, when he steps onto Centre Court, with a crowd hungry for historic moments, all the mental strategies and self-assurances may prove futile, particularly against Djokovic, who possesses immense talent, determination, and experience.

Sunday’s final will present an entirely new experience for Alcaraz, surpassing even his previous major final against Ruud. In comparison, Djokovic will be competing in his 35th major tournament final. In Alcaraz’s perception, Djokovic is an opponent who should be taken lightly, akin to carrying out a mundane task like taking out the trash.

Stay tuned for Grand Finale of Wimbeldon.
